Happenin' Weekend in Kittanning

I spent most of this past weekend in Kittanning.

On Saturday, my cousin, Kristie, had her thirty-faux birthday. She decided to have a bonfire to celebrate, which of course meant it stormed for most of the afternoon/ early evening. Eventually, the rain cleared out and we were all able to head outside for our picnic supper. The food was excellent and all the little kids running around were so cute. I'd post some pictures, but when I turned my camera on that night, all I got was a black screen and a "change battery pack" notice.

On Sunday, my Aunt Janet hosted our annual family reunion. My grandma took her famous fried chicken that she makes in her cast iron skillet that she got as a wedding present in the early 1940's. *Yum... SOOOOOO goood!!!!* Kristie and I were in charge of selling 50/50 tickets and we collected $200. Next year, I think we should charge a commission so we also make a profit.

Here is the only picture I took on Sunday

Grandma's 90th Birthday Party

My Grandma Wyant turned 90 years old on December 11, 2008, so the family had a surprise birthday party for her the weekend before.

What could have been a Jerry Springer showdown actually was a very nice afternoon...

Grandma had me laughing as soon as she walked into the banquet room. The look on her face when she saw everyone there for lunch was hysterical, she actually looked mad. Then, I think she realized that it was a party for her and she finally smiled.

You said she's how old??!!??!!?? Why, she doesn't look a day over 18.

Happy 90th Birthday, Grandma!

Yum!Apricots!

After Lilly was fed and we were waiting for Grandma to open her presents, Kristie decided she was going to take a picture of me and her.

Here it is

That is what happens when you press the On/Off button instead of the shutter!!

Aunt Laura, I know I'm cute. Will you please stop taking my picture!

Keepin' it all in the Family

The reception was a blast! Like any good Pennsylvania wedding, the reception was held in a small town fire hall.

Kristie and I were smart- we wore our flip flops to the reception, unlike some other people who had on stilettos and fishnets. Our reasoning was, if a fight broke out, we needed to get out of there fast before the police showed up. (True story, it happened at a reception Kristie went to at the same fire hall).

I can’t believe they wore flip flips to the reception. Didn’t we teach those girls anything?

The best and funniest part of the evening occurred when Michelle (mother of the groom) passed around a glass of Dom Perigno and the reaction from our table was…

Me: Wow.
Kristie: IT TASTES LIKE SKUNK!!!!
Me: It tastes like feeeeeet!
My dad: Had that before, have ya?
Me: I like it! What’s not to like? Fur? Good! Smell? Good!

After drinking Skunk juice, I spent the rest of the evening taking pictures of the fam...

Eric's Wedding

On Saturday, I went to a wedding for my cousin Eric. The wedding was held at Furnace Run Church. Before it was a church, it was a one-room schoolhouse where my Grandma Wyant went to kindergarten.

How could you not love those little cheeks?????
